We will be running trips at the top of each hour from 11-6

Why a Banjo Day?
(1) In 2006 tenor banjo player Cornelis "Kees" saw 15 year old Molly Reeves (the captains daughter) play at the Pismo Jazz Jubliee as a guest artist on a Goodtime. After the event he came up to her and told her she was out classing her banjo and gave her the 1920's Majestic you see her playing in the above photo. Cornelis was invited on a cruise with us but never made it so we are extending the invite to all banjo players!
(2) September 26th is Captain Lloyd's Birthday and the banjo is his favorite instrument. He is currently making the switch from 4 string to 5 and is loving finger picks so both 4 and 5 strings are most welcome. Can you think of a better way to spend your working birthday?
(3) To see what kind of interest there is out there. If we have a good turn out we would like to do it again next year but involve some of the other businesses in the area and maybe have picking contests or clinics & maybe a manufacture demo? Please feel free to let us know your thoughts.
What is the boat like?
The "Looking Glass" is a 19 passenger USCG inspected semi-submersible underwater viewing boat. It has over 6 tons of lead to sink the lower viewing area which has two seven foot long underwater picture windows. Built by "Sub Sea Systems" in Sacramento, California and launched in 1995 under the name "Ava Mahalo Lani" the vessel spent the first part of her life in Hawaii. From Hawaii she traveled to Catalina and was renamed "Looking Glass". In early 2005 she was purchased by Chaffin & Reeves Inc. After a refit she was put into service to replace the submarine replica "S44" in Redondo Beach. "S44" was a popular attraction in Redondo Beach but as a uninspected vessel it was only allowed to carry 6 passengers. Scroll to the bottom of this page for a map to find us.

September we are seeing lots of small rays, Opal Eyes, Smelt and Calico Bass!
