Big Changes are coming!
In 2008 I had lots of folks asking if we would rent or sell Stand Up Paddleboards. It looked like a lot of fun and what the heck our lakeside has such calm water I thought I would give it a go. So at the end of 2008 we added Starboard (Thailand) to our line of equipment. (Just like "FastKayak" our policy for political reasons is to not sell any products made in China.) I have had lots of fun racing the SUP's so in 2010 I added the Surftech Competitor (Thailand) & M&M (USA) to our sales as it is the fastest 12'6" board I have paddled and I like going FAST!! I currently have a bunch of "Woppers" & "Big Easys" for rent in our Atascadero location and also our Redondo Beach location.
New for 2011: Due to so much flooding of the market we often found ourselves selling stuff at cost just to move it out. We felt bad doing that as often the only people making $ were the ones who built the equipment in other countries. In an effort to keep our dollars at home we will no longer be buying equipment or boards for our SUP shop unless it is made here in USA. The Surftech & Starboard are made in Thailand and the Liquid Logic are made in Peru so when I run out that is it for them. I plan to add Custom Ohana's (made in USA and not the Chinese versions hiting our shores soon) and flatwater boards made here. In addition Imagine has 4 blow molded SUPs built in Ohio (unlike the ret of their line from China) that I will be adding.
I also have paddles made by Zaveral (Made in New York) (only 14.8 ounces! $339.00) as they already build the shafts for our "Flyer Wing Paddles".
