2011 USCA National Championships to include SUP's!

This year the USCA will be adding 5 races to their week long Canoe and Kayak National Championships August 9th - 14th to be held in Newaygo, MI.

The Races to be held for SUP's are:

• Tuesday August 9th; 500 meter sprints
• Wednesday Morning: Orienteering - This event favors a good map reader over a speedy board.
• Wednesday Afternoon: Biathalon - 3k foot race & 3k paddle
• Thursday Morning: Junior Sprints
• Thursday Afternoon: Fun short race
• Friday August 12th: Marathon - 16 miles

All of the above events will have seperate classes for men & women. The first 3 events can be any Stand Up Paddleboard but the Marathon will be limited to "Stock" 12' 6" and shorter boards.

This is a extremely fun event and if you are like me I plan to enter 1 or 2 of the canoe & kayak events as well. You will need to bring a PFD & Whistle plus join the USCA (click here to join).

You must register at least one day before the race. It is best to do it by mail ahead of time.

Note: There should be over 500+ Canoe & Kayak paddlers. If you are a Manufacture or Dealer and would like to set up a display or demos this would be a great way to expose Stand Ups to the rest of the paddling community at least very little cost.
